RBT calculators are free browser tools for checking exam-practice arithmetic, BACB date windows, and study-plan allocations. The directory currently organizes six implemented tools, each tied to the RBT Handbook, the RBT Test Content Outline (3rd ed.), or the BACB 2026 transition documents where the rule depends on an official source.

Start Here#

Use the tools in the order that matches the problem blocking your study session.

  1. Start with the interval recording calculator when a practice scenario asks whether a row is scored by any occurrence, full-interval occurrence, or an endpoint check. The tool compares the same modeled observation under three discontinuous rules.
  2. Use the ABA rate calculator when the stem gives counts, minutes, total duration, successes, or opportunities. The calculator returns rate, mean duration, and percentage with visible formulas.
  3. Open the RBT recertification calculator when maintenance timing is the question. The tool uses the 2-year cycle, 12 hours of professional development units (PDUs) during each 2-year recertification cycle, and the 45-day application window from BACB sources.
  4. Use the RBT application timeline calculator when training, assessment, application, and approval dates need to stay in sequence. The tool checks the training span, assessment window, application validity, and hypothetical retake spacing.
  5. Use the RBT exam cost calculator before budgeting first-time exam steps. The tool separates the BACB application fee of $65, the Pearson VUE appointment fee of $45, missed appointments, and one reschedule window.
  6. Use the RBT study plan generator after choosing a start date, exam date, and daily study time. The plan distributes study time by official scored-domain weights instead of by guesswork.

Privacy And Scope#

Calculators can make arithmetic and dates easier to inspect, but calculator output is still study support. The RBT Handbook controls exam facts, Pearson VUE controls appointments, the BACB portal controls certification dates, and supervising BCBAs control client programs.

Use invented or de-identified practice rows in measurement tools. RBT Ethics Code 2.0 standard 2.08 requires protecting the confidentiality and privacy of clients, stakeholders, and others in the workplace, so real client sheets do not belong in public or shared study examples.

Try the free RBT practice test when you want public practice without creating an account. Sign in through the RBT practice app when you want saved attempts and corrections.

Practice Items#

Every item below is original and tied to a tool scenario rather than copied exam content.

1. During calculator practice, a learner has six episodes lasting a total of 54 seconds. Which formula gives the average episode length?

A Events divided by minutes gives rate, not the average length of each episode.
B Correct. A.6 includes mean duration; 54 seconds divided by six episodes equals 9 seconds per episode.
C Correct divided by trials gives a percentage of opportunities, not duration.
D Yes rows divided by all rows gives an interval percentage, not mean duration.

2. The interval tool uses ten-sample rows and checks only the endpoint sample for one rule. Which row would score yes under that endpoint check?

A A row with early present samples but a final 0 would not score yes for an endpoint check.
B A row with a middle present sample but a final 0 would not score yes for an endpoint check.
C Correct. A.2 includes momentary time sampling, and the final sample is present in this row.
D A row with no present samples would not score yes under any occurrence-based interval rule.

3. During after-work study, Mira wants to test a calculator with a learner's real session notes on a shared laptop. Which choice best fits the privacy rule?

A RBT Ethics Code 2.0 standard 2.08 requires protecting private workplace information, so full notes are not appropriate for a shared study tool.
B RBT Ethics Code 2.0 standard 2.08 still applies when initials can identify a learner or workplace record.
C RBT Ethics Code 2.0 standard 2.08 does not support sharing exported client data for practice.
D Correct. RBT Ethics Code 2.0 standard 2.08 supports using practice data instead of client-identifying information.

FAQ

What are RBT calculators?

RBT calculators are study tools that turn a defined input, such as interval rows, counts, dates, fees, or study time, into a visible calculation. The tools are for exam practice and planning, not for changing client procedures.

Can an RBT calculator predict my exam result?

No. The RBT Handbook states that the BACB uses the modified Angoff method to establish the RBT examination's passing score. A calculator can summarize practice data, but a practice result is not a BACB score.

Which calculator should I use for measurement questions?

Use the interval recording scorer for partial interval, whole interval, and momentary time sampling. Use the rate and percentage calculator when the problem asks for rate, mean duration, or percentage from counts, time, and opportunities.

Which calculator should I use for BACB dates?

Use the application timeline calculator for initial training, assessment, application, approval, and retake planning. Use the recertification calculator for maintenance cycles, PDUs, application windows, and transition cases.
